Two teens have been charged in the weekend beating death of a 14-year-old boy, and neighbors who knew the victim said the incident may have had to do with bullying.

Counseling Help For Youth
Tonight from 6-7:30pm at the North Iowa Youth Center Counselors from the Mental Health Center will be on staff to help the children dealing with the loss of their friend Darrion Rambo.
CAABI and NIYC have been communicating about the need to get help to these kids quickly to avoid suicides that could result. Dealing with loss is not easy, and can affect children for years down the road.
Kids that don't heal effectively with loss, can compound with further losses around them from family, friends, etc. I have already talked to a few mothers that are quite angry, because kids are dropped off at funerals, and they don't have that support and understanding from the parental units. At funerals past, groups of kids would show up to the door of someone they knew, and the parent wasn't trained to deal with the grieving these children were going through. As a community, when we have a child that passes away for any reason, resources should come together, and ensure that they have the proper understanding and guidance. I personally attended the funeral, and there was so much hurt, and it is my hope that those kids will come forward tonight. God bless them all.

Mason City School District
Mason City might get cameras on as many as 20 buses, and improved security at the high school, and washington early child care.

"This is a definite step in the right direction, but overall kids are the primary source of information, and when kids feel like they can talk in an open environment, there are less threats to the system overall. I look forward to see what the next steps will be for the school, and how they could change the environment while kids are young, and get rid of hierarchies that tend to try and develop. Mason City has a wings program that is supposed to address these issues, but I have heard some kids say that they don't take it all that seriously, and still hear things that are going on throughout the district. I would also like to see that the district is more communicative with parents in the community when things do happen in school."
